49-50 Great Marlborough Street

This project required the demolition of the reinforced concrete staircase and landings by hand and machine techniques, removal of the windows from the rear elevation, demolition of brick and concrete stairs and former toilet towers from all floors, together with the demolition of a full height brick cavity wall at the rear elevation and the breaking out and removal of sections of the ground floor slab.  The project also required the removal of plant room structures from the roof area, removal of carpets, parquet flooring and radiators and the removal of the lift car, mechanism and the steel cage lift shaft.  There was also some specialist asbestos removal required as the building incorporated as asbestos removal as the building incorporated an asbestos cement lean to.
