This project requires the safety critical soft strip of a 14 storey residential accommodation block at the Royal Free Hospital, Hampstead. The soft strip currently being carried out by H&C Demolition, includes the removal of water tanks at 14th floor level together with two lift cars and mechanisms, lift motor room plant and complete removal of the plant room at ground floor level. In addition, the project requires the removal of concrete spandrel panels to four elevations and the removal of the steel fire escape stairs from the 14th floor to ground floor level.
The ground floor of Anne Bryans House is currently occupied as a Doctor’s and Dentists Surgery and has continued to remain open and operational throughout the duration of the works. Therefore, great care and a sympathetic approach have been required to minimise any disruption to the occupants.
The strip out was programmed to commence from the ‘top down’ in order that the lifts can be utilised to remove arisings from the strip before we remove the lifts at the end of the project. Close co-ordination of works is required with the asbestos removal contractors throughout the project and the main contractor, United House Limited, is able to follow in behind our team and begin the refurbishment works floor by floor. | Duration: | 12 weeks |
