Health and Safety

H&C Demolition recognises that the construction sites are hazardous places to work and as such we consider health and safety to be of paramount importance.

All site based employees are fully trained on a regular basis in all aspects of  health and safety.  All operatives are provided with the necessary PPE to carry out their operations in a safety critical manner and they have the authority to cease work if they feel that health and safety has been compromised in anyway.

The importance of health and safety awareness is communicated throughout the company and is controlled by a structured management system which has been developed in line with current legislation and industry standards.

The management system comprises six elements:

  • A documented Health and Safety Policy
  • Health and Safety Procedures
  • Environmental Policy and Procedures
  • COSHH Assessments
  • Tool Box Talks
  • BS6187:2000 Code of Practice for Demolition.

This management system is regularly reviewed and developed with consultation from our Health and Safety advisor John Woodward of C&D Consultancy.

H&C Demolition (GB) Limited complies with its responsibilities under CDM Regulations 2007.  At the commencement of every project specific risk assessments are provided and method statements developed with operations clearly defined.  Each method statement is read and signed off by the team carrying out the operations and the team receives induction, tool box talks and safety awareness training relevant to the duties they will be carrying out.
